Physical and Social Activity in Care Homes

The  following  document  aims  to  give  an  overview  and  an  understanding  of  what physical  activity  is,  the  importance  of  keeping  residents  physically  active  and some  of  the  contraindications  to  exercise.  The  document  is  not  a  training manual  that will  equip  staff  to  deliver  a  physical activity  programme.  There are  companies  who  offer  training  to  enable  delivery  of  physical  activity  in care  homes.   The  best  way  to  source  these  is  through  the  Register  of  Exercise Professionals website.
