Bold People’s Residential Care in 10

Pat Bailey, long-standing Residential Forum member, shares some personal thoughts about the type of culture she likes #registeredmanagers to cultivate in #carehomes for older people

  1. Use plain speaking
  2. Be brave about relationships with residents
  3. Find out what people need and want – do it
  4. Have fun
  5. Make time for staff to get to know residents
  6. Remember record keeping can wait
  7. Check people want to live at your home
  8. Unblock ways of working that get in the way
  9. If people don’t want to go to hospital – then so be it
  10. Risks can be good as well as sometimes harmful
